gary r. king

Gary King is an Advisor to Peak Ridge. Gary is primarily responsible for assisting Peak Ridge in the continuing expansion of its alternative investments platform. He has more than two decades of international experience across the energy and financial sectors, working for leading companies such as Neste Oy, Morgan Stanley, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) and Macquarie Bank. Gary is a pioneer in the Middle East private equity sector and was instrumental in developing the Standard Bank/GIB GCC Energy Fund; the first fund established in the GCC to invest exclusively in the energy sector and one of the first companies to be incorporated and licensed within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). He has also had an influential role in developing and implementing other regional private equity initiatives focused on energy, natural resources and infrastructure.

Gary is a recognized leader in the energy and finance sectors of the Middle East. Most recently, he was the CEO of Dubai Natural Resources World. Prior to this, Gary was the CEO of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME) where he was instrumental in establishing the DME as a world-class international exchange. In 1999, Gary worked as the General Manager of Risk Management and Advisor to the Group CEO of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC). King began his international career in the oil industry as a petroleum exploration geologist and held a number of managerial positions in oil exploration and oil trading. King moved into the financial sector in 1994 when he joined Morgan Stanley. He is also on the Board of Directors of Parker Drilling Company and a Director of Kulczyk Oil Ventures Inc. King has a Bachelors degree from London University in Petroleum Exploration Geology and a Master's degree in Petroleum Exploration Geology from Imperial College, Royal School of Mines.

Governor TOMMY THOMPSON

Governor Tommy Thompson is an Advisor to Peak Ridge, focused on the development of the Private Equity and Advisory Services Groups within the firm. Secretary Thompson has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in public service. In 1966 he won a seat in Wisconsin’s state Assembly. He became assistant Assembly minority leader in 1973 and Assembly minority leader in 1981. Elected governor of Wisconsin in 1986, he was reelected in 1990, and in 1994 became the first governor in the state’s history to be elected to a third four-year term. In 1998 he was elected to a fourth term, and served in that position until his appointment as secretary of Health & Human Services in 2001.

As the head of the Department of Health & Human Services under the Bush Administration, Governor Thompson served as the nation’s leading advocate for the health and welfare of all Americans. He worked to modernize and add prescription drug coverage to Medicare for the first time in the program’s history. A leading advocate of welfare reform, he also focused on expanding services to seniors, the disabled and low-income Americans.

As governor of Wisconsin, Governor Thompson was perhaps best known for his efforts to revitalize the Wisconsin economy, for his national leadership on welfare reform and for his work in expanding health care access across all segments of society.

Governor Thompson has received numerous awards for his public service. He is also a former chairman of the National Governors’ Association, the Education Commission of the States and the Midwestern Governors’ Conference.

Governor Thompson received both his B.S. in 1963 and his J.D. in 1966 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Wisconsin bars.
